About Sirona Technologies

At Sirona Technologies, we are developing direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the air and combat climate change. We are a young startup and are now scaling up our prototypes into industrial machines ready for mass production.

We are looking for an exceptional and mission-driven build engineer to help build our machines to, and scale our prototypes into world-changing hardware. As a member of the core team, you will be expected to rapidly grow your responsibilities in order to help fulfill our ambitious goals.

Responsibilities

As a build engineer, you will:

  • Work hands-on in the workshop to build our DAC machines, mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems included
  • Manage the workshop setup, safety, and workflow
  • Identify build issues early and suggest practical fixes or design feedback
  • Thinking creatively to find hacks that will provide the same results but much faster or much cheaper. Share feedback to designers.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to simplify & accelerate assembly processes
  • Contribute to the scale-up of our manufacturing lines to build machines in large series
  • Manage the workshop and available tools & consumables to meet the future needs of the team
  • Over time, hire and lead a growing team of technicians and builders
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field with a focus on practical engineering
  • Experience building hardware from the ground up (e.g. competitions, personal projects, …)
  • Agile and creative mindset that can hack common problems with out of the box ideas
  • High energy level
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Smart but humble, with a bias for action
Nice to haves
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to mechanical design and manufacturing.
  • Experience in workshops, prototyping & automation
