About Sirona Technologies

At Sirona Technologies, we are developing direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the air and combat climate change. We are a young startup and are now scaling up our prototypes into industrial machines ready for mass production.

We are looking for an exceptional and mission-driven build & test engineer for the construction and assembly of our next-generation direct air capture machines. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our machines are built efficiently, to specification, and on schedule.

Responsibilities

As a Build & Test Engineer, you will:‍

  • Work hands-on in the workshop to build our DAC machines, mechanical, electrical, and fluid systems included
  • Oversee the integration and assembly of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to meet design specifications.
  • Design and build test set-ups to validate components, subsystems, and full DAC machines
  • Develop and manage detailed build planning for the assembly and build process, ensuring compatibility of responsible engineers’ schedules.
  • Thinking creatively to find hacks that will provide the same results but much faster or much cheaper. Share feedback to designers.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to simplify & accelerate assembly processes
  • Contribute to the scale-up of our manufacturing lines to build machines in large series
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks during the build process to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
  • Manage the workshop setup, safety, and workflow. Ensure that the team follows safety protocols, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field with a focus on practical engineering
  • Experience building hardware from the ground up. Hands-on experience with designing or executing hardware tests.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Agile and creative mindset that can hack common problems with out of the box ideas
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate resources effectively.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and mission-driven, with a commitment to building high-quality machines that deliver real-world impact.
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Smart but humble, with a bias for action
Nice to haves
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, metal fabrication, component sourcing) and material management.
  • A strong network of suppliers (machinists, metal cutters, injection molders, etc.) and knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of global supply chains (e.g., Europe vs. China).

If you're passionate about fighting climate change and eager to join a fast-paced organization where your contributions will have a substantial impact, we'd love to hear from you.
