About Sirona Technologies

At Sirona Technologies, we are developing direct air capture (DAC) technology to remove CO2 from the air and combat climate change. As a startup in the R&D phase, we’re rapidly scaling our laboratory prototype into larger, game-changing machines to be produced in large series.

We are looking for an exceptional and mission-driven machine designer to support the development and scaling of our direct air capture machine. As a member of the core team, you will be expected to rapidly grow your responsibilities to meet our ambitious goals.

Responsibilities

As a machine designer, you will:

  • Create technical drawings and 3D models of machine components, ensuring they are manufacturable and optimized for series production by applying Design for Manufacturing principles.
  • Oversee the integration of subsystems within the machine by closely collaborating with the R&D team.
  • Introduce and address prototyping and manufacturing constraints to streamline production processes and ensure product scalability.
  • Propose continuous improvements as we scale up our manufacturing batches.
  • Participate in building, testing and troubleshooting of products, analyzing results, and implementing design improvements to simplify its manufacturing, and to enhance its reliability and performance.
  • Ensure that the product complies and gets certified for the operation site norms.
Requirements
  • A background in mechanical or electromechanical engineering
  • Proven experience in machine design, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, casting, and injection molding, including material selection for scalability.
  • Designing skills in mechanics (pneumatics, hydraulics and/or electrical machines)
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools for technical drawings, preferably SolidWorks
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative, curious and pro-active
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Smart but humble, with a bias for action
Nice to haves
  • At least 5 years experience in transitioning prototypes to scalable, mass-producible machines, with a strong focus on design for manufacturing (DfM) and assembly (DfA).
  • Experience implementing quality control processes, tolerancing (GD&T), and ensuring compliance with relevant certifications and standards (e.g., ISO, CE, UL).

If you're passionate about fighting climate change and eager to join a fast-paced organization where your contributions will have a substantial impact, we'd love to hear from you.

Send us an email with a brief description of the work you've done that you are the most proud of.
