Sirona Technologies partners with 44.01 for permanent CO₂ storage at Project Moringa

Sirona Technologies has partnered with 44.01 to deliver permanent CO₂ storage for our Project Moringa site in the Middle East.

At Moringa, our Direct Air Capture machines remove CO₂ directly from the atmosphere. 44.01 will then take that CO₂ and inject it underground into suitable rock formations, where it mineralizes and turns into solid carbonate rock. Once mineralized, the CO₂ is permanently stored.

Why we chose to deploy in the Middle East

From the beginning, Project Moringa was designed around one core principle: if we want to reduce the cost of Direct Air Capture quickly, we need to operate in real conditions with real storage.

We chose to work 44.01 as they have already demonstrated fast and reliable CO₂ mineralization in the UAE at an operational well. That made it possible for us to deploy in a location where permanent storage is already proven and running.

Operating alongside an active mineralization partner allows us to test our systems in a real world environment and tackle the real challenges that come with producing verified carbon removal credits: continuous operation, integration between capture and storage, monitoring, and verification.

Those are the challenges that matter, and the ones that will ultimately drive costs down and make high-quality carbon removal scalable.

What comes next

Project Moringa is now live, and we are preparing for the first batch of CO₂ to be injected with 44.01 in the coming weeks.

We’re looking forward to sharing progress from the field as operations continue.
